Are You a Candidate for Veneers?

Are You a Candidate for Veneers?

Imagine an ailing plant miraculously blooming again, or a beloved but badly tarnished necklace you can wear now, thanks to a thorough polishing.

You can get the same feeling of pride and confidence in yourself by beautifying your smile and correcting a wide range of imperfections. Believe it or not, this is made possible by a single advanced cosmetic dental solution — veneers.

These paper-thin shells are custom-fitted and applied to the surfaces of your teeth with care and precision by Dr. Ali Saeghi and the attentive Modern Age Dentistry team. Dr. Saeghi ensures that your experience is comfortable and that the goals you have for your smile are met — and exceeded!

Veneers: so many benefits!

Over the years, our teeth take a beating. We chip them, crack them, stain them, and worse, but they never stop helping us chew, eat, and speak clearly. But let’s face it. We also want a smile that dazzles and stands out as a feature that lights up our face.

By choosing veneer treatment, you can make unsightly dental flaws disappear — just like that! Here are some of the issues veneers can handle:

If you’re impressed with the length of this list, you’re not alone. Hollywood’s luminaries don’t depend on veneers for nothing! This treatment can give you a movie star-quality smile with no discomfort — in just a visit or two.

How do I know if veneers are right for me?

When Dr. Saeghi evaluates you as a candidate for veneers, he considers several things.

First, he takes dental X-rays to ensure that you’re not dealing with decay, gum disease, or any need for a root canal. If all those items can be checked off, you’re that much closer to being veneer-ready. And if Dr. Saeghi uncovers any of these issues, you can still get veneers down the line, after he corrects them.

Next, you need to have one or a mixture of cosmetic concerns that veneers successfully address. If your problems are too severe, a different treatment might be called for, such as orthodontic care for more serious misalignment problems. Or, you might have an issue that isn’t severe enough to warrant veneer treatment, like mild staining that can be corrected with whitening.

Dr. Saeghi also assesses whether you have ample enamel — because part of the veneer process requires Dr. Saeghi to remove a bit of enamel and “rough up” your teeth a little prior to placing the veneers. This ensures that your veneers will adhere to your teeth properly.

Finally, you’ll need to be evaluated for teeth clenching and grinding, since those habits — inadvertent though they may be — damage veneers.

Fortunately, Dr. Saeghi finds some obstacles to your being a candidate for veneer treatment, he can often remedy the problem so you can ultimately get veneers.

The veneer experience

When Dr. Saeghi gives you the green light for veneer treatment, you get started with an office visit, where he prepares your teeth for them. He administers local anesthetic to ensure your comfort before he scrapes that bit of enamel away that we talked about earlier — so your teeth can accept the veneers.

The next step is making an impression of your mouth, which is sent to a lab that fabricates your veneers. This ensures that they’ll fit you precisely.

When your veneers arrive, you come for your second visit, and Dr. Saeghi checks your veneers against your teeth to make certain that your veneer shade is a perfect match. He also double checks their fit and how well their shapes align with your real tooth surfaces. At this time, he can make any adjustments if needed. Your teeth are thoroughly cleaned as well, to encourage the best bonding possible.

Then it’s “go time,” and Dr. Saeghi uses a special, extremely strong dental cement to place the veneers on your teeth. He then directs a curing light at them to hasten drying.

After the curing phase, Dr. Saeghi cleans up any errant dental cement and checks for a final time that your veneers fit exactly as they should, your bite is correct, and you’re comfortable.

You won't believe your eyes when you look in the mirror and marvel at the absence of any smile imperfections! Upon leaving our office, you’ll definitely be checking yourself out in every mirror and window you pass!
