How to Make the Most of InvisalignⓇ

Love is in the air this month, and in the past, yummy Valentine’s Day treats were forbidden for those with braces.

Now, there’s a treatment platform that straightens and beautifies your smile comfortably, quickly, and nearly imperceptibly — all while allowing you to enjoy whatever foods you’d like!

Invisalign treatment has taken the world by storm and been a big hit with patients for quite some time. Dr. Ali Saeghi offers expert Invisalign consultation and treatment to children and adults at Modern Age Dentistry, and we think you’ll be blown away by how it has transformed orthodontic treatment!

What is Invisalign?

Invisalign treatment is a streamlined, noninvasive, and much easier way to correct your smile.  Instead of metal brackets and wires, Invisalign uses clear plastic aligners that are customized to fit your teeth snugly. As you progress through your treatment — which typically takes less time than treatment with traditional braces — we supply you with a new set of aligners every two weeks so that your teeth shift gradually, adapting to the “instructions” they get from your new aligners.

With Invisalign, a multitude of problems can be corrected:

When you come to our office for your first visit, Dr. Saeghi takes an impression of your teeth, which is his blueprint for reaching the goals you’ve set together. Then your aligners are made. Although you get new ones every couple of weeks, Dr. Saeghi monitors your progress carefully and sees you for evaluations about every six weeks. Generally, you’re required to visit our office less when you get Invisalign treatment.

Patients love Invisalign because treatment is comfortable (no painful period of getting used to braces or tightening sessions), no more expensive than braces, takes less time, and, true to their name, Invisalign aligners are barely noticeable. With Invisalign, your mouth doesn’t scream “I’m getting orthodontic treatment!”

Set yourself up for success

In order to see the best results from your Invisalign treatment, follow these steps:

  1. Wear your aligners for 20-22 hours per day. You can take them out when you eat and brush and floss your teeth. And a note about eating: You don’t have to worry about a lengthy forbidden foods list anymore!
  2. Store your aligners in their case when you’re not wearing them. Because they’re clear, it’s easy to misplace them and even throw them away unknowingly! Make it a habit to put your aligners in the case every time you remove them.
  3. Care for your aligners by rinsing them nightly and brushing them well with a soft-bristle toothbrush that’s different from your everyday toothbrush. You can use a clear, mild liquid soap for this and rinse them thoroughly again after brushing.

Don’t forget to do a great job of brushing and flossing your teeth, so your mouth and aligners stay in tip-top shape.

  1. Be sure to follow Dr. Saeghi’s after-treatment instructions precisely, so you can preserve the beautiful new smile Invisalign gave you. An important component of this is wearing a retainer, which stops your teeth from shifting out of alignment.

Depending on your individual circumstances, Dr. Saeghi advises you on what type of retainer to wear and how often it should be worn.

Our patients, teens and adults alike, can’t say enough about how pleased they are with Invisalign. Unlike traditional braces that were the only option in the past, Invisalign makes  treatment a breeze — with results that are just as dazzling!
